I wrote a piece called Choice vs. Offense right after the Christmas holidays. I only shared it with my close circle because it is a controversial reflection of our society right now. I decided to make it public after watching the RFK Jr. confirmation hearings yesterday. You can read it here.

If you haven’t watched the hearing, it was like watching a deafening stampede of sheep running towards a cliff, screaming “Yes! We need to make America healthy! We have to find the cures! Without vaccines we’ll all die!” Meanwhile, RFK Jr. was fighting against the mob, refusing to let them take him (or us) off the cliff with them.
I wasn’t surprised that every single Democrat screamed and screeched (some literally) and declared RFK Jr. “dangerous”. However, I was surprised that only a few Republicans fully supported RFK Jr.’s confirmation. Shout out to Senator [Coach] Tuberville from my home state of Alabama who strongly stated, “I will not allow my grandchild to be a human pin cushion.” Fantastic!
One Republican Senator baffled me after she agreed with RFK Jr. that Americans do indeed need to “eat healthy and exercise.” She even agreed that we need to get rid of the chemicals in our food. But she then ended her statement by saying that we also need “more prescription drugs, more vaccines and more focus on combating infectious diseases”.
Ya’ll, they just aren’t getting it. Her own statement still didn’t connect for her. And it’s still not connecting for most Americans. Eating real food, daily movement and ridding the chemicals (dyes, pesticides, pharmaceuticals) is the cure! Our bodies are overloaded. We keep dumping more and more on them. The pill cures one problem but causes 5 more problems. So we take 5 more pills that cure those problems but cause 5 more problems. How are we not getting it? We are disrupting God’s design!
Yesterday, I was standing in line at one of my favorite local Antique stores. I was chatting with the owner, when she paused our conversation to invite the customers in line to have some decadent treats she'd brought over from the local bakery. I politely declined for myself and my two young boys (which has become a routine occurrence when we are out and about). One customer, a woman (I would guess was in her late 50’s to early 60’s) declined as well. She explained that normally she would but her doctor had recently put her on a diet to avoid having to get on Beta Blockers for her high blood pressure. This woman was not obese, but was over-weight. All the other women in the store still encouraged her to have one anyway, "that just one small treat wouldn’t hurt". (Sound familiar? Hello, Genesis 3.)
As I saw her hesitate, I spoke up, “No! You’re doing great. Good for you for standing strong. And good for your doctor for recommending a healthy diet over prescription meds!” She smiled, thanked me and declined the cupcake. The other women looked at me with offense. Then the woman checking her out turned to her, leaned in close and quietly said, “You know they make these over the counter pills that you can take before you eat and then you can eat anything you want.” To which the aging, over-weight woman replied, “Really?! Where can I get them?!”
Ya’ll, I’m heartbroken. Not just by that interaction. Or the RFK Jr. hearings. I’m heartbroken by what we have let the enemy do to us. Americans, ya'll, we're Americans! Our ancestors fought with their lives, and busted their butts creating a better life for us. Americans went from being brave, resilient, full of enormous grit! Now we have a nation of people that are lazy, soft, and passive in their minds, bodies, and spirits. This is not what our founders fought for. This is not it.
If Americans don't get it now, I’m afraid they never will. The stampede is running off the cliff. Are you mindlessly running with them or are you radically changing course?
